Having trouble understanding President Obama’s “worldview”? Former speaker of the House of Representatives and possible Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich may be able to help! According to Newt, you can only understand Obama if you “understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior.”

Gingrich spoke with Slate’s Dave Weigel and Robert Costa of the National Review Online on Saturday night and told them both about the “most profound insight I have read in the last six years about Barack Obama.” Weigel recorded part of the interview, which you can listen to above. And what was this “profound” and “stunning” insight?

“What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?” Gingrich asks. “That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior.”

“This is a person who is fundamentally out of touch with how the world works, who happened to have played a wonderful con, as a result of which he is now president,” Gingrich tells us.

Oh wow! Now that you mention it, Newt, I can totally see it. Kenyan anti-colonialism! Newt’s thesis is taken from a wonderful piece of what I believe is called “fanfic,” written by the breathless conservative, uh, intellectual Dinesh D’Souza for Forbes, which, I swear, was at one point a respectable business publication.
