I’m in the middle on this, because we’re talking about an extreme situation. I think in cases where somebody’s already done that much mortal harm, we might have the right to medicate in the interest of protecting the patient and those around him.
You’re right. And that’s where I fall in all practicality. It’s a case where civil rights, individual liberty and the right of others to be free from harm intersects uncomfortably. The federal courts have ruled in both directions.
