alligatorweather asked: What are your thoughts on switching your party affiliation from D to R in Wyoming in order to get involved with more progressive Republican candidates who have a shot at getting on the state/federal legislature? I'm not in Alexander's district, or I might have done it this year...but my partner and I have talked about it before. Seems like potentially a good choice as a Wyoming progressive, especially when we one day leave Laramie....

I think it’s perfectly valid option. I know some people are completely rigid with their party affiliation, and that’s cool and all, but in a state with a closed primary, no Democratic challenger in many districts, and multiple Republican primaries, you’re not able to vote for your representation because your party affiliation is more important to you than who actually wins.

I look at who I’d want to work with, and who aligns the closest with my views first. If I have to, I will vote Republican, especially if it is between a progressive or moderate Republican versus a conservative Teapublican.

Cheers,

Meg
