Anonymous asked: If you were going on a long road trip, what books on tape would you bring along?

That’s a tough one — I can’t do books on tape if I’m driving because someone reading to me makes me really sleepy. But here’s the titles on my iPod right now:

  • Winner-Take-All Politics: How Washington Made the Rich Richer—and Turned Its Back on the Middle Class
  • Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power
  • Twilight of the Elites: America after Meritocracy
  • An Economist Gets Lunch: New Rules for Everyday Foodies
  • Republic, Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress - and a Plan to Stop It
  • Imperial Life in the Emerald City
  • Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City
  • Big Sur
  • On the Road
  • Class Warfare: Inside the Fight to Fix America’s Schools
  • Freedom: A Novel
  • Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong
  • Fun Inc.: Why Gaming Will Dominate the Twenty-first Century
  • Griftopia: Bubble Machines, Vampire Squids, and the Long Con That Is Breaking America
  • Good Omens
  • Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim
  • The Partly Cloudy Patriot
  • Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter

My husband has the Audible account and I’ll ask him for recommendations. But this is a pretty good variety. We usually listen to books on long drives, and these are ones we’ve selected beforehand.

Safe travels!

Cheers,
Meg
