On Hurricane Sandy and voting

dftba4ever replied to your link: Hurricane Sandy: 5 political questions

If we get flooded as bad as we did in September 2011 where I live, I won’t be able to make it to my polling place. Because it will still be underwater a week after the storm :-/

I don’t know where you live, but I would advise those in or near evacuation areas to call their county clerks ASAP and find out if there are emergency procedures or early voting in place for their precincts. Gov. Chris Christie in New Jersey has apparently been drafting plans with the Secretary of State, though he said no information will be released until after the hurricane. And Virginia is extending absentee voting. NPR has a summary here that will be updated as info becomes available.

Your county clerk’s office and/or secretary of state will have the most up to date information. Be safe.
