I’m sure this commenter has “homo” friends, but I would also argue he’s likely just assuming he’s friends with gay people. I find it unlikely any LGBTQIA person would purposefully identify themselves to someone who seriously thinks heterophobia is a thing on par with homophobia. He flat out says their presence “deprecates” the state. This person is a virulent homophobe who cannot even see how these comments are hateful.
These comments come on an article in The Laramie Boomerang about changing the narrative on hate crime legislation in Wyoming and actually protecting Wyoming’s LGBTQIA residents. The article implies that Matthew Shepard’s murder was a galvanizing force for change in Wyoming and in Laramie. When I see comments like this, though, I have to wonder.
