Goddammit. I knew I should have watched tonight’s GOP
See this Tweet? It’s from exactly one month ago.
Michele Bachmann took me up on my suggestion and put it out there tonight. Seriously. Here it is on Real Clear Politics: "The Devil Is In The Details" Of Cain’s 9-9-9 Plan
Michele Bachmann says if you turn Herman Cain’s “9-9-9” plan upside down it becomes 6-6-6. “I think the devil is in the details,” she said at the GOP debate hosted by Bloomberg and Washington Post.
So I was being sarcastic… but you owe me, Michele. There’s a reason I tagged it #NewConspiracyTheory.
So maybe I’m being over-dramatic here… though I’m almost sure this is a recruitment video for any anti-American terrorist group.
But really, Kim Kardashian bawling over a $75,000 earring that she lost in the ocean is just too much. Who the hell wears earrings like that to the beach?!
"I don’t want to seem like a spoiled brat crying over a earring…" Well, sorry, you do. I love the person who says "Kim! People are dying!" while she’s whining about her earring.
I’m almost pissed she found the damn thing. Apparently, it was easy to find because “it’s sparkly and so huge!”
Here’s something Michele Bachmann actually did:
Tonight, Michele Bachmann became the first presidential candidate to sign a pledge created by THE FAMiLY LEADER, an influential social-conservative group in Iowa. By signing the pledge Bachmann “vows” to “uphold the institution of marriage as only between one man and one woman” by committing herself to 14 specifics steps. The ninth step calls for the banning of “all forms” of pornography. The pledge also states that homosexuality is both a choice and a health risk. You can read all the details of the pledge here.
The Family Leader, a prominent Iowa group that promotes Christian conservative social values, said Thursday it is asking all presidential candidates to sign a pledge regarding their personal convictions on traditional marriage. The pledge is entitled, “The Marriage Vow – A Declaration of Dependence upon Marriage and Family.”
The organization’s chief executive officer is Bob Vander Plaats, a conservative evangelical leader. Vander Plaats said the Family Leader will not support any candidate who declines to sign the pledge.
"If you are looking at being a leader of our great country….we would like to have you pledge personal fidelity to your own spouse and a respect for the marital bonds of others."
Wait, respecting the marital bonds of others? Oh, right, just marriages YOU approve of, not ALL marital bonds.
Tea with Rush Limbaugh as a Founding Father on the label. Yes this shit exists:
June 15, 2011
The Liberals are coming.
The Liberals are coming.
My good friend Paul Revere laid out the blueprint of how to deal with this. Sound the alarm! One if by land, Two If By Tea™!
Two If By Tea™ represents traditional American values of capitalism and the pursuit of excellence. Each bottle is designed to rise above the sameness and mediocrity that threatens our great nation. Just grab a 12-pack and join the fight to preserve the America we know and love. It’s worth it…
Two If By Tea™ is made just the way my mother used to make it, simple and satisfying. Nothing fancy here, just the simple pursuit of excellence in every bottle of tea we make. Whether you’re kicking back on the front porch reflecting on the greatness of our country or firing up the barbeque on a nice hot summer afternoon, Two If By Tea™ is the perfect accompaniment, no matter what the occasion…
Developing and bringing Two If By Tea™ to market has been a unique American experience for all of us who worked on the project. We were all reminded of the blessings bestowed upon our country by our Founders and the Constitution, who fought to create and safeguard the fundamental values of a free society, knowing that it was limited government and belief in the greatness of the American people that established the concept of American Exceptionalism.
Fellow Americans, hold on to our exceptional values, stand up against those who want to suppress your individual rights and above all take pride in being an American! While you’re at it, join me in drinking a bottle of my tea as we admire the great United States of America and the military and law enforcement officials who fight to defend our freedom every day. Thank God, yes God, for the blessings of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and of course, this wonderful drink - Two If By Tea™!
Yep, Rush Limbaugh is selling patriotic tea. It’s apparently safe for liberals to drink though. Not that I’d want to… For your daily dose of egoism, Rush calls himself the “Doctor of Democracy” for this. Seriously.
Actually, Obama gave the directive to find and kill bin Laden. As the leader of our armed forces, it was under his direct command that bin Laden was killed. In 2006, Bush disbanded all units hunting for bin Laden (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2006/jul/04/usa.alqaida). Obama reassembled a team specifically to find him and kill him (http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2011/05/03/2011-05-03_guts_and_glory.html).
Saying Obama doesn’t deserve credit because he didn’t fire the gun is like saying Osama bin Laden wasn’t responsible for 9/11 because he wasn’t flying the plane.
Furthermore, Obama was not “debating whether or not to pay” our soldiers. The government almost shut down because Congress, which has a Republican majority, could not agree on a budget. Obama had nothing to do with that. In December 2010, Obama recommended a 1.4% pay INCREASE for the military. (http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/payfreeze.asp)
This was both an Obama victory AND an American victory. The two are not
This is in relation to the meme Facebook status: “Let’s be clear on this…Obama DID NOT kill Osama Bin Laden. Our American military, who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating on whether to pay or NOT to pay ,did Obama just happen to be the one in office when our intelligence finally found OBL and was given permission to take him out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN MILITARY VICTORY!” - That one is from Tea Party Nation, but it’s taken various similar forms.
So this just arrived in my email… damn if CafePress wasn’t on this moneymaker.
And if you like to say it with your bumper, check out one of the featured stickers:
Description: “Not having a birth certificate has never kept the Almighty from exercising his dominion over Heaven and Earth, why should it stop Obama?”
America, for fuck’s sake. You’re eating yourself tail first.
journalism is hard
Wow, I think about this ALL THE TIME! How did you know, Fox News?! </sarcasm>
Get’em conditioned early, that’s the trick.
Remember when we didn’t live in a police state?
we always lived in a police state, harsh reality for most people of color and poor people.
Exactly. The degree to which you feel the pain of fascism in this society is contingent upon your privilege within it.
I really feel a sense of loss for children who were very young on Sept. 11th and who have been born since. They never knew what it was like to not fear a specter and walk through an airport security line, shoes on and personal space intact.
To the public and the press, Washington, D.C.-based FreedomWorks Tea Party head Dick Armey has attempted to paint the Tea Parties as a movement by “real” Americans concerned (only) about fiscal policy and government debt. He has pooh-poohed evidence of hard-core racists in his movement. And he has pretended that there is not an anti-democratic (small d) bone in the Tea Party body. Such declarations have led some analysts to claim that the Tea Parties constitute some sort of “populist” movement, in which the voice of “the people,” however distorted, can be heard.
In a stunning set of declarations aimed at the Tea Party faithful, however, Tea Party Nation President Judson Phillips sounded more like an economic and political royalist. On the November 17 edition of his Tea Party Nation internet radio program, Phillips said: ”The Founding Fathers originally said, they put certain restrictions on who gets the right to vote. It wasn’t you were just a citizen and you got to vote. Some of the restrictions, you know, you obviously would not think about today. But one of those was you had to be a property owner. And that makes a lot of sense, because if you’re a property owner you actually have a vested stake in the community. If you’re not a property owner, you know, I’m sorry but property owners have a little bit more of a vested interest in the community than non-property owners.”
So wait - what if you have a mortgage, the bank *technically* owns your house. If you rent, you don’t matter. My reaction to this:
So, this isn’t the part that has me the most pissed off. Here’s what really offended and enraged me:
Wyoming GOP Chairwoman Diana Vaughan said the result was heartening. “We’re the last of the Old West and people don’t want the long arm of government coming here,” she said. “But I just have to laugh at this because everyone is now trying to vie for the title of ‘most Republican.’ We won.”
Vaughan also gets a kick out of the four sad-sack Senate Democrats and 10 House Democrats having to cover 12 committees in each chamber. “They don’t even have enough to do all the committees,” she said, laughing. “Sorry. They’re going to be very busy over there.”
Yeah, roughly 30-35% of the state is completely underrepresented in our state government. Hilarious. Hysterical even. I wouldn’t be as disgusted if the Wyoming Democratic Party wasn’t so moderate.
And there’s this:
Wyoming’s voters stepped forward to ensure that the events of November 2, 2010, will be remembered as one of Wyoming’s most historic political events.
Nationally, the American people have taken the important step to fire Nancy Pelosi. Immediately following the 2008 presidential election, Democrats simply stopped listening to the American people. Democrats supported deficit spending and pushed for higher taxes. They stole the American dream. [Emphasis mine]
Oh, Diana. You left some out. You think Democrats are stealing the American Dream of Conservative, Christian, Right-Wing, Republican, Straight, White, American Males. It’s rare that I am truly offended by shit, but damn. This is straight up arrogant and immature.
I’m going to go smoke now. See you in two years.
This is my state. For fuck’s sake…
Jersey Shore Kids
The little girl on the left is making duckface. This is the cherry on top of the fuckery sundae that is this picture.
On Fox Business’ Varney and Company, Monica Crowley did her best to discredit the Stewart/Colbert rally by claiming that union members were being bused in at gunpoint to the rally. She said, “Well, but there are a lot of union members who are actually being bused in at gunpoint by their union leadership.” When Varney countered not at gunpoint, Crowley said, “In some cases yes, at gunpoint.”
Later she tied the Stewart/Colbert rally to Obama’s plot to get young people to vote on Election Day, “Obama has been targeting one group over and over again over the last two months, and that’s the kids. That’s the college students. He’s been all over campuses. He’s had these speeches broadcast nationwide to college campuses. He is targeting the kids, because the kids along with minority groups, African-Americans, Latinos last time were the core constituencies that came out for him last time.”
Host Stuart Varney later tried to correct Crowley that nobody was being bused in at gunpoint, and she took the opportunity to drive the point home one more time by saying, “But we are talking about some unions here, Stuart.” After Varney said again that it was symbolic, Crowley said, “Ok, I’ll concede the point.” This is the typical Fox News model. Crowley spent almost two minutes discrediting the rally and spreading fear about unions, and five seconds at the very end of the segment admitting that it is not true. What messages do think stuck with viewers? People are being forced to attend the Stewart/Colbert rally, and that the rally is designed to help Obama.
Wait, wait, wait…if Stewart and Colbert are “just comedians” as Fox paints them to be, then why are they so scared?
A 14 year old girl on rollerblades was getting ready to march in the Maple Leaf Parade with the LGBT Resource Center’s float, she was carrying a rainbow/American flag hybrid. But it got ugly when Mark Schneider ran up, grabbed the flag, pushed her and screamed, “Go to a country where they will hang people like you.”
What the fuck? Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!
