I picture most of my madfaced anons as basically being this video. Because reasons.
And that’s not socialism, bro.
Gerald Gay calls his fellow legislators “pinko’s” for not passing his misguided, North Korea-ish bill regulating the size of American flags in Wyoming classrooms, mandating their presence, and also requiring daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in Wyoming classrooms.
Anyone else notice the irony of him calling people “pinko’s” and the requiring of the pledge being a big fucking deal during the red scare? Oh yeah, that’s when we inserted “under God” too. Reminder to Gerald NotGay: The people who killed this were in YOUR OWN PARTY. As Sen. Cale Case said, patriotism “comes from the heart, not the law.”
This is Gerald Gay’s response to a gay Wyomingite’s email regarding HB74. This is not a joke. The segment in blockquote format is the section he pasted from the man’s email.

Subject: Re: HR 0074"With the country trying to move forward, but constantly being pulled backwards, I would like ask you a question before you make your vote tomorrow.
Try to think of one of your children, or your grandchildren coming to you to tell you they are gay. Of course you know it will be very difficult for them, because everyone is against them and they will be fighting for rights all of their lives, but, you love them and want only the best for them.
How would you like them to think of you and your vote on this resolution? Cause and effect.”
I appreciate your question. However having the family name “Gay” I look at this issue somewhat differently:
Try explaining to your 7 year-old why the kids in the schoolyard ridicule him for his name and tell nasty jokes that really have nothing to do with him or his lifestyle. Try explaining to a very young child that some people are different and conduct themselves in a manner that societies have taught is abhorrent but in order to gain social acceptance they have adopted a word with a very different meaning in order to make their lifestyle seem more mainstream. A child of that age can’t grasp certain subtle nuances. This would be a very different issue if we still used the words “homosexual” or “sodomite” to describe such choices.
Imagine for a moment the nonsense I hear about this reprobate issue every day of my life. Every member of my family has universally turned its’ back on the use of the family name to describe sodomy. So in answer to your question, I feel confident that none of my descendants will ever come to me and say “I am gay”. And yes, I do wish more people considered “cause and effect” when making the choices they make.
I saw this email a few days ago and was horrified. I read it out loud on my radio show. There is really nothing to say about this other than his “Assclown of the 2011 Wyoming Legislature” award is 100% deserved.
You should follow this. It’s a tumblr dedicated to the most homophobic, Islamophobic, misogynistic member of the Wyoming House. This man has actually stated that banning Sharia law is necessary in keeping with his ideal of legislating via his faith. He also wants to regulate the size of flags in Wyoming classrooms and mandate saying the pledge every morning. Kids who don’t want to are required to leave the room. Finally, he asked members of the Wyoming House to not use the word “gay” to describe homosexuality because it’s disrespectful to his last name.
He’s an all-around asshat.
And why Gerald Gay accidently advocates it:
Rep. Gerald Gay, R-Casper, introduced a proposed constitutional amendment [House Joint Resolution 8] — requiring two-thirds majority votes in the House and Senate, a governor’s signature, and a majority of those casting ballots in the November 2012 general election — that would forbid courts from considering international law or Sharia law when deciding cases.
A few well-established matters in law and practice in Wyoming will impede the advance of Islamic law for a long time to come:
1. Nobody’s proposing abolishing the Department of Revenue’s Liquor Division, the state wholesale liquor distribution center, or the Beacon Club.
2. Likewise, nobody’s out to shut down any hog producers.
3. Payday loan businesses still will charge bleepity-percent interest to customers.
4. Babes still will wear bikinis at Jackson Lake and Alcova.
5. Fools still will gamble at bingo, casinos and Texas Hold ‘Em.
On the other hand, the Wyoming Legislature appears to be succumbing to some Sharia practices:
1. Illegalizing gay marriage, and recognizing gay marriages performed in other states.
2. Not doing much about the gender-wage gap, which fits with Islam allowing both men and women to own property, but with a daughter’s inheritance usually being half that of her brothers.
3. Occasional talk about our laws coming from God. Of course, the debate persists about just what God we’re talking about.
Christian pseudo Shari’ah law? Say it ain’t so…
Rep. Gerald NotGay continues his asshattery and government interference:
House Bill 204, titled “Patriotism in the Classroom,” cleared the committee on a 5-3 vote. Its prime sponsor is Rep. Gerald Gay, R-Casper.
Gay could not attend the committee meeting.
According to his colleague, Rep. Bob Brechtel, R-Casper, Gay decided to introduce the bill after he visited a school classroom and noticed the absence of a flag.
The teacher then pointed to a tiny flag “on a toothpick” stuck on the top of the blackboard.
The bill as it stands requires only a standard-sized flag. It also requires students to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in the first period of the day.
Oh, and any student who wishes to not say the pledge is singled out by being required to leave the room quietly while the real Americans chant. Seriously. They have to leave. I can see Gerald NotGay showing up with his shotgun and yelling: “Hey, you! Jehovah’s witness kid! GTFO, you unpatriot while we chant the chant of the godly land!”
This is what we have to waste our time on. Mandating the recitation of the pledge and display of the official regulation flag of the country, whilst casting the heathen offensive ones aside. Gerald NotGay, our Dear Leader, shall carry us henceforth upon his brawny demi-god shoulders into the future.
So, there’s plenty of anti-gay sentiment this year in the Wyoming Legislature, just like past years. Rep. Frank Peasley told people in Laramie to “get over the whole Matthew Shepard thing” in 2009. This year, he claimed the government intrusion of the anti-gay bills in the legislature would stop government intrusion into the lives of people of people who want to define what kind of relationship they’re in.
In 2009, Peasley won my assclown of the legislative cycle award. In Wyoming, even years are budget sessions, so I don’t give out the award.
I have my 2011 winner. This year, the award for the biggest assclown of the legislative session may have to go to Rep. Gerald Gay of Casper. He was the guy who shot socialism (never mind that’s a hammer and sickle) in his campaign commercials:
But that’s not why he deserves the award. THIS is why he deserves the award:
Jeers to Rep. Gerald Gay, R-Casper, who asked members of a House committee to “respect” his last name and use the term homosexual instead of gay. Gay has pushed an extreme right-wing agenda this session. Jeers to the Star-Tribune’s editorial board for endorsing him in last year’s election.
That’s right. During discussion over an anti-gay bill, he got all pissy about people saying “gay” versus “homosexual” during discussion on HB 74. It doesn’t matter that this bill is government intrusion (*hint* that’s what he claimed was the problem) that seeks to invalidate legal contracts between two consenting adults and is creating a second class of citizen in The Equality State. Gerald Gay has exposed his bigotry by insinuating that being gay is something to be ashamed of and disgraceful. It hurts his feelers for people to say gay on the house floor.
Either that, or he was trying to make an extremely juvenile gay joke. Yeah, it’s just a word, right? And we shouldn’t get offended by gay jokes, right? Because it’s just a word? And my last name’s “Gay”? And gay people are gross? Get it, guys? Guys?
See, there’s reasons that people sponsor bigoted legislation, as horrid as they may be - no justification of course, but they often have a reason. Gay even sponsored one of the anti-gay bills. But there’s no reason for Rep. Gerald Gay to get bitchy about people using the word “gay” on the house floor unless he is actually intolerant of gay people. Gay’s other main interest this legislative session is trying to get Sharia law banned in Wyoming.
Of all the things to get pissed off about… Rep. Gerald Gay of Casper is just a flat-out assclown. And that’s an accomplishment in a legislative session filled with assclownery. So, in conclusion:
