BREAKING: COURT STRIKES DOWN WISCONSIN UNION-BUSTING LAW

Via ThinkProgress:

Wisconsin Judge Juan Colas ruled that Governor Scott Walker’s (R-WI) law eliminating collective bargaining rights for public-sector unions was unconstitutional under both the Wisconsin and United States constitutions. The law, which does not save the state any money but crushes the political and economic influence of unions, has been in effect for roughly one year. It is unclear, per ABC’s reporting, whether union restrictions will be suspended immediately pending a likely Walker appeal.

The race to determine control of the Wisconsin Senate has fallen in the hands of the Waukesha County clerk, who has already distinguished herself as incompetent, if not worse. She is once more tampering with the results of a consequential election and in the next hours we will determine our next course of action. For now, Wisconsin should know that a dark cloud hangs over these important results.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following possible evidence of election tampering in the 8th State Senate District race by County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus. Nickolaus is the same county clerk who “found” over 14,000 votes for David Prosser in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, and reported her results last yet again.

Her office has been suspected of election irregularities several times, culminating in Senator Tammy Baldwin asking for a DOJ investigation after the Prosser win. It’s about time, I’d say. Local news stations in Wisconsin are reporting an investigation is being launched.

  • Sandy Pasch [Facing Sen. Alberta Darling (R)] (Senate District 8)
  • Shelly Moore [Facing Sen. Shelia Harsdorf (R)] (Senate District 10)
  • Fred Clark [Facing Sen. Luther Olsen (R)] (Senate District 14)
  • Jessica King [Facing Sen. Randy Hopper (R)] (Senate District 18)
  • Jennifer Shilling [Facing Sen. Dan Kapanke (R)] (Senate District 32)

August 16th is Election Day for: Jim Holperin (Senate District 12) and Bob Wirch (Senate District 22) (These are the two Democratic senators who were recalled)

If you are in Wisconsin, you can look up your voter registration and polling place location here.

No matter where you live, you can join this effort:

Background info on the recalls here. Currently, the Koch brothers and Tea Party Nation are dumping money and out-of-state organizers into Wisconsin. Judson Phillips, head of Tea Party Nation, is in Wisconsin claiming the unions/the left agenda "has killed billions of people" and is comparing Wisconsin protesters to Nazi storm troopers.

They’re against the ropes. Let’s go for the knockout.

Allegations of illegal election collusion fly in Wisconsin Senate recall

As the August 9 Wisconsin Senate recall election nears, Democrats and Republicans have filed complaints with the Government Accountability Board, accusing each other of engaging in illegal campaign coordination in Senate District 8.

Collusion between state resources, political campaigns and independent groups is illegal under Wisconsin law.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin filed complaints (PDF) in multiple jurisdictions on Thursday alleging that Republican state Sen. Alberta Darling committed multiple felonies by trying to hide her collusion with Americans For Prosperity, Wisconsin Family Action, Wisconsin Right to Life, and other conservative groups.

Darling is accused of blocking the release of documents relating to an open records request seeking information about her collaboration with the groups, a potential felony under Wisconsin law.

"It appears that Alberta Darling is engaged in a coverup to hide election collusion," Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Thursday. "The last acts of her desperate campaign are not merely pathetic. They are illegal."

Wisconsin is such a shit show right now… I stand with Wisconsin’s progressives and I’ve donated to We Are Wisconsin. Their headquarters burned down about a week ago, and the fire is still under investigation. This was the same day the Koch brothers’ group, Americans for Prosperity, sent out letters to Democrats asking them to return the application for an absentee ballot two days after the election. This isn’t the first time the Wisconsin GOP has attempted voter suppression, either.

Walker opponents take to Wisconsin’s waters with protest flotillas

Wisconsin has a new protest movement, and it’s on the water.

Protesters took advantage of one of the state’s many bodies of water to move their “Recall Walker” message a little closer to the subject of the protest this weekend. After learning that Wisconsin’s first lady Tonette Walker would host a garden party on Saturday, July 2, a group of nearly a dozen people formed a flotilla that set sail to the shore of Lake Mendota off the governor’s Maple Bluff executive residence.

Saturday’s protest was organized very quickly, says Arthur Kohl-Riggs, who organized the event through the "Shit Scott Walker Is Doing To My State" Facebook page he operates. He learned about the party Friday night and created a Facebook event Saturday morning.

Read more here.

Brilliant! I love the creativity here. Keep it rolling, Wisconsin.

We’ll see, Scotty.
