Rep. Joe Walsh Defends Not Paying $117,000 In Child Support: ‘This Is Where Real America Is’

Tea Party freshman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), who has spent months lecturing President Obama and Democrats on fiscal responsibility, owes $117,437 in child support to his ex-wife and three children. Laura Walsh has asked a judge to suspend his driver’s license until he pays his child support. Despite loaning his own campaign $35,000— and paying himself back at least $14,200 for the loans — Walsh claims he failed to make the payments because he “had no money.”

Walsh has been a prominent voice in the debt ceiling showdown in recent weeks, making television appearances almost every day to denounce President Obama’s “reckless spending,” which he says has “bankrupted this country.”

"I won’t place one more dollar of debt upon the backs of my kids and grandkids unless we structurally reform the way this town spends money!" Walsh says in one video. But today, when confronted in a CNN interview about his failure to support his own children, Walsh not only refused to acknowledge his hypocrisy but insisted that being a deadbeat dad meant he understood the plight of average Americans.

Walsh also rejected the congressional health insurance plan for his family on principle, much to the chagrin of his current wife, Helene, who had a preexisting condition and needed surgery while the couple was uninsured. But Walsh apparently thinks he can have it both ways - claiming his own indebtedness and failure to care for his family’s needs allows him to understand average Americans, while railing against Washington for irresponsibly racking up deficits. As he put it in a recent interview, “Thank God congressmen like me are here!”

Um…

But at least he’s a consistent douchebag! No wonder he was okay with the US not paying its obligations - he’s familiar with that.

I received this email this afternoon. Here’s the article referred to in the email above:
"In the movie “Minority Report,” people are arrested before they commit crimes. If we could go ahead and do this with the Obama regime, we will save American lives.
Hyperbole? No. Fact.
Recently, a book was found by agents of the border patrol in the Arizona desert, near the Mexican border.  The book was published in Iran and was a book praising and telling the biographies of suicide bombers.
This is not the first time something like this has been found. Previously, Iranian currency was found in Texas and a military jacket with a patch showing a plane crashing into a building was also found in Texas. Recently a radical Muslim cleric was caught being smuggled into the United States in the trunk of a car.
Have you not heard about any of these stories?
There is no big surprise here. The drive by media is in the pocket of the Obama regime and they are not going to talk about it. Fox News has reported it and it is being talked about in the conservative blogosphere.
Six years ago, FBI director Robert Muller testified about the number of people from countries that have Al-Qaeda connections who learn Spanish, use a Hispanic name and try to pass themselves off as Hispanic.
In case anyone has missed the point, we are going to be hit and we are going to be hit big. Americans are going to die because this administration is doing nothing. Do we have proof that terrorists have crossed our southern border illegally?Probably no concrete evidence, but it would simply be improbable, to the point of being impossible to believe that has not happened.
The American-Mexican border is a joke. There are a few places where there is a substantial fence. In most places there is either no fence or a fence that presents a minimal obstacle to anyone who wants to cross.
We can say anything we want to about the Islamists, who want to harm America, but they are neither stupid nor do they lack determination. Anyone who doubts that needs to go back and look at footage of the 9/11 attacks.
What is truly amazing is that we have not been hit the way we could have been. The Iranian book found in the Arizona desert praises suicide bombers. Just last week, a suicide bomber walked into Domodedevo Airport in Moscow and blew them self up. At least 31 died and over one hundred were hospitalized.
On our southern border, the Obama regime does nothing while illegal aliens and drugs are smuggled at a stunning rate. Is it hard to believe that Al-Qaeda has sent some terrorists that way? It is hard to believe they have not. If Al-Qaeda sends people through the border, is it hard to believe they would not also send through the parts to make suicide vests?
Given the regime’s lack of interest in enforcing border security, it is only a matter of time before we are hit. We will be hit and it will be bloody. Perhaps it will be an airport or maybe a mall or perhaps some other public gathering. The simple fact is Americans will die and it will all have been preventable.
Of course, the Obama regime does not care about that. Their only interest is power. America deserves better.”

So about the only things I got from this is “WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE” and “Them brown people’s evil.” This is authored by Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation.

Others are worried that Justice Scalia gives off the impression of being political by going to this event. I’ve got news for you: that ship sailed on Bush v. Gore. So if you thought this event was absurd enough, wait until you get a load of the next speaker on the Constitution: Sean Hannity.

Cenk Uygur, on the news that Tea Party caucus leader Michelle Bachman is planning seminars with “constitutional scholars” all year long.

I wonder if she knows that Obama IS one…or that Justice Scalia just said that women “don’t have constitutional protection against discrimination.

(via technipol)

They don’t. Alex says that the government shouldn’t interfere with any relationships in any way, so however the man wants to treat his woman, he’s allowed to.

(via alexholzballs)

This guy ^^ is a parody of this nutty motherfucker. He’s the affirmative action bake sale dude. You should follow the parody. Don’t worry about the actual Alex. The real thing makes your head explode. If you’re into the head going all explode-y thing, then go for it.

On that note, Cenk Uygur, have I told you lately that I love you?

Giffords’ GOP Challenger: So, Can I Run Again Already?

According to Arizona Capitol Reports (subscription-only newsletter), Jesse Kelly is so antsy to challenge her again, that he requested a legal inquiry as to whether he could run again if Giffords lost her seat:

Attorney Lee Miller, who serves as legal counsel for the Arizona Republican Party, told our reporter Kelly’s campaign contacted him earlier this week to find out how the seat would be filled if Giffords couldn’t serve.

This is the same guy that held the M-16 shoot/fundraiser “targeting” her seat “for victory.” Keep it fucking classy, Tea Party.

This is the Tea Party Nation forum post Barbara Cusumano was responding to, authored by Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips:
"In a moment, a leftist lunatic destroyed a half a dozen lives. Six were killed. Others were wounded. Gabrielle Giffords, who could probably be described as a rising star in the Democratic Party remains in critical condition, with a gunshot wound to the head.
The wounded were not even at the hospital before the left began its attack on the Tea Party movement.
The leftist sheriff of Pima County was one of the first to start in on the liberal attack. He said, ”When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry.” This is the same guy who announced he would refuse to enforce SB 1070  (The Arizona Immigration law) because it offended him.
McClatchy Newspapers repeated the standard liberal talking points. They said Conservatives were upset because she supported health care reform and during the debate her office was vandalized. Although no one was ever caught, the liberal media still feels it appropriate to blame this on a conservative.
For the Tea Party movement, we need to get ready because this week, the attack is going to intensify. Despite the fact that his friends from high school have described him as being quite liberal, the media is still going to be pushing the line that this is the fault of the Tea Party movement.
The hotheads on the left have been using Twitter, Facebook and other social media to spout off for the last 24 hours. Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas fired off a tweet saying, “Mission accomplished Sarah Palin.” Hotheads like him will fade. Next week we will see a more serious attack from those who are the masters at the dark arts of media and politics.
This attack has already started and you can see the liberal meme forming. They will say the tone and rhetoric from conservatives and the Tea Party is responsible for this crime. In Politico today, first an unnamed “Republican” (read RINO) Senator said, “tone matters.” Politico then quoted an unnamed Democratic operative who followed the same “tone matters” line, blaming the “overheated rhetoric” for the shooting, then saying Obama should “deftly pin this on the Tea Partiers,” just like Clinton placed the blame for the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.
In 1995, Clinton then tried to blame conservative talk radio, especially Rush Limbaugh, for the terrorist bombing. The tactic worked then, backing conservatives off and possibly helping to ensure a second Clinton term.
The line we will see for the next few weeks is going to be that rhetoric and tone of the message from the Tea Party is responsible for this attack. Let’s ignore the fact that this guy was not only nuts, but also a card carrying liberal. The hard left is going to try and silence the Tea Party movement by blaming us for this.
In a decent world, we could all take a moment to mourn for those killed by a liberal lunatic. Political civility is long since dead and the left will not let us do this.
So be it.
The left is coming and will hit us hard on this. We need to push back harder with the simple truth. The shooter was a liberal lunatic. Emphasis on both words.”

This just disgusts me. Even their own members are calling for them to dial it back, and Phillips can’t resist ratcheting it up to eleven and reminding them that we’re all at war now.

They operate within our tax code, within your government… and they say they’re concerned about “social welfare.” You know who else was concerned about “social welfare?” *pick up pictures dramatically*

Mao. Mao and Che Guevara. Both revolutionaries concerned about social welfare. *place pictures on chalkboard*

Concerned about social welfare… *flip chalkboard, gesture with meaning*
