First, masturbation can be a form of homosexuality because it is a sexual act that does not involve a woman. If a man were to masturbate while engaged in other forms of sexual intimacy with his wife then he would not be doing so in a homosexual way. However, any man who does so without his wife in the room is bordering on homosexual activity, particularly if he’s watching himself in a mirror and being turned on by his own male body.

Mark Driscoll, “Pastor” of the Mars Hill Church in Seattle, claiming men need to stop masturbating because it’s a kind of homosexuality. Driscoll also authored a booklet entitled Porn-Again Christian: A Frank Discussion on Pornography & Masturbation for God’s Men.

This is what immediately came to mind:

Yes, that’s James Franco making out with himself. Oh, and this:

In order to clear up any confusion for Driscoll, here’s the Merriam-Webster definition of homosexual:

ho·mo·sex·u·al adj
\ˌhō-mə-ˈsek-sh(ə-)wəl, -ˈsek-shəl\
Definition of HOMOSEXUAL
1: of, relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex

2: of, relating to, or involving sexual intercourse between persons of the same sex

Nothing in there regarding sex with yourself, I promise. Oddly enough, he says nothing about women, lesbianism, female masturbation, etc. I just don’t know what to say about this - it’s so ridiculous.

Yeah, okay. Oh, and “Pastor” is in quotations marks because reason, dude. You’ve got none.

The right pushes sad new homosexuality = pedophilia angle

While the gay community have been busy with other matters, members of the religious right are perpetrating a slow but consistent march to a claim that acceptance of homosexuality will soon lead to the acceptance of pedophilia.

The key here is that these folks are not saying that pedophilia and homosexuality are connected, but rather are using a faulty “slippery slope” argument, i.e. – “just like the gay community is receiving more acceptance, pretty soon the pedophiles will be getting more acceptance.”

Ugh. Some days it’s just bigot whack-a-mole over and over again…

The Bachmann incident demonstrates that as homosexuals gain more civil rights, heterosexuals are losing theirs. Because gays are a wealthy and politically powerful minority, they claim access to media attention, political power and corporate influence that middle America does not have.

I am an ex-gay, and I support Michele Bachmann and her husband |

Yeah… My first reaction:

My second reaction:

Your privileged whines about middle America having no influence do not amuse me.

My third reaction:

If you can’t handle gay people in the media talking about gaining civil rights, there’s a sure-fire way to shut them up: Allow them to exercise their civil rights like everyone else and treat them as human beings. Just sayin’.

Excellent animation on whether or not homosexuality is a choice from For The Bible Tells Me So. Here’s the synopsis:

Can the love between two people ever be an abomination? Is the chasm separating gays and lesbians and Christianity too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate? Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families - including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson - we discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child. Informed by such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and Reverend Jimmy Creech, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

Springs diocese starts 12-step program for gays

The Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs is borrowing a page from Alcoholics Anonymous by launching a 12-step program that offers pastoral care and support for homosexuals.

“It’s not about therapy and not about activism,” said the Rev. Larry Brennan, diocese director of priest formation. “It’s about support.”

The Catholic Church views homosexual relations as a sin, but not homosexual thoughts. It expects those with same-sex attraction to be celibate.

“The exercise of sexuality is reserved for marriage, and that can only happen between a man and a woman,” Brennan said.

Jim Fitzgerald, executive director of Call to Action, a national progressive Catholic group headquartered in Chicago, is skeptical of Twelve Steps of Courage because he contends homosexuality isn’t sinful.

“It restricts people’s freedom to be the kind of person they were created to be,” Fitzgerald said of Courage.

Colorado Springs = theocracy rising. This is just wrong and potentially damaging.

If A Single Queer Can Cause The Wikileaks Scandal, Ann Coulter Wonders What 10,000,000 Queers Could Do

“Obviously, the vast majority of gays are loyal Americans — and witty and stylish to boot! But a small percentage of gays are going to be narcissistic hothouse flowers like Bradley Manning. Couldn’t they just work for JetBlue? America would be a lot safer right now if gays in an “awkward place” psychologically could do no more damage than grabbing a couple of beers and sliding down the emergency chute. Look at the disaster one gay created under our punishing “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. What else awaits America with the overturning of a policy that was probably put there for a reason (apart from being the only thing Bill Clinton ever did that I agreed with)?”
