Well, there you have it. From Gallup:

"Eighty-two percent of U.S. Catholics say birth control is morally acceptable, nearing the 89% of all Americans and 90% of non-Catholics who agree. The level of acceptability on this issue is far greater than that of the other 17 issues Gallup asked about this year."

On moral issues surveyed by Gallup, it’s the most acceptable. Of Republicans, 87% give birth control the a-OK, along with 89% of Independents, 90% of Democrats, and even 82% of Catholics. Basically, this is an issue 82%-90% of Americans agree on, yet the Catholic bishops, with their GOP backup dancers, are trying to convince us 100% of Americans are JUST OUTRAGED.

On a side note, taxpayers DID pay for my birth control once upon a time. It was when I was in the U.S. military on active duty. So thanks for the birth control, folks. I’m stoked to still be childless.

Poll: 1 in 3 vets sees Iraq, Afghan wars as wastes

One in three U.S. veterans of the post-9/11 military believes the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were not worth fighting, and a majority think that after 10 years of combat America should be focusing less on foreign affairs and more on its own problems, according to an opinion survey released Wednesday.

The findings highlight a dilemma for the Obama administration and Congress as they struggle to shrink the government’s huge budget deficits and reconsider defense priorities while trying to keep public support for remaining involved in Iraq and Afghanistan for the longer term.

Somehow, I don’t think the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is the morale issue…

The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls.
